Your child’s first dental visit is an important milestone, and our team is here to ensure it is a positive experience for both you and your little one. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children visit a dentist within six months of their first tooth erupting, or by their first birthday. This initial visit helps establish a dental home for your child, fostering a foundation for a lifetime of good oral health.

When you arrive at Preston Center Pediatric Dentistry, you and your child will be warmly greeted by our friendly dental team. We will start by reviewing your child’s and family’s health history to understand any relevant medical backgrounds. This helps us provide the best care tailored to your child’s needs.

You are always welcome to accompany your child during his/her appointment at Preston Center Pediatric Dentistry.  During the visit, our experienced pediatric dentist will discuss your child’s oral habits, including pacifier use, diet and overall development. A gentle examination of your child’s teeth and gums will be conducted, noting any new teeth that may appear in the coming months. This examination is designed to be comfortable and stress-free, ensuring your child feels safe and secure. Our team will provide you with valuable advice on maintaining your child’s oral health at home. This includes tips on brushing, flossing, fluoride intake and how to prevent oral injuries. We will also discuss the importance of diet and oral habits, and offer recommendations on toothbrushes and toothpaste suitable for your child’s age.

At the end of the appointment, we will summarize your child’s current oral health status and make any necessary recommendations. We will also help you set up a regular appointment schedule to keep your child’s smile healthy and bright. Our goal is to answer all your questions and address any concerns you might have, ensuring you leave our office feeling confident in your child’s dental care.
